1. The tears are like rosewater on faces,
You'd think from the heat of parting they were melting.
١. كَأَنَّ الدُّموعَ ماءُ وَردٍ بِأَوجُهٍ
يُخيَّلنَ مِن حرِّ اللجينِ مَدَاهنا
2. It's as though they feared betrayal in love after them
So they gave us their hearts as hostages.
٢. كَأن قَد خَشينَ النَّكثَ في الحُبِّ بَعدَهُم
عَلَينا فَأَعطَينا القُلوبَ رَهائِنا
