1. O my friends, my liver is cracked
I complain to you both, my fervor

2. Of love for a maid I was burdened with
She stayed in Mecca, among the tribe of Saad

3. She stayed in Mecca, while the purpose was discarded
Alas, Mecca, away from the homelands

4. Neither her home is my home, to give me relief
By your life, this is the most wretched fervor of mine

5. By Allah, I won’t forget her words
Until I'm laid to rest in my grave

6. And her farewell the day we departed
As the riding animal was ready between us

7. While my eyes were sleepless and had become
Discolored from the tears flowing down my cheek

8. Go, may I ransom you, not distancing
For this was not the last covenant
