أمست كراع الغميم موحشة

1. The meadows of the clouds are lonely
After those who have long since passed

١. أَمسَت كُراعُ الغَميمِ موحِشَةً
بَعدَ الَّذي قَد خَلا مِنَ الحِقَبِ

2. If you find them desolate, I too witnessed them
As beautiful, splendid maidens in a wondrous parade

٢. إِن تُمسِ وَحشاً فَقَد شَهِدتُ بِها
حوراً حِساناً في مَوكِبٍ عَجَبِ

3. Of the family of Hashim and the sons
Of Shams, the finest of noble lineages

٣. مِن عَبدِ شَمسٍ وَهاشِمٍ وَبَني
زُهرَةَ أَهلِ الصِفاتِ وَالحَسَبِ

4. Sashaying about in luxury robes
Of silk they trail over the dunes

٤. يَرفُلنَ في الرَيطِ وَالمُروطِ مِ
نَ الخَزِّ يُسحِبنَها عَلى الكُثُبِ

5. Oh night of Layla be long for me and pass slowly
When I remember the abode of ruins

٥. يا طُلَ لَيلى وَآبَ لي طَرَبي
لَمّا تَذَكَّرتُ مَنزِلَ الخَرِبِ

6. The abode of one who departed on pilgrimage
On the night of the sixth, nearing Rajab

٦. مَنزِلَ مَن راحَ مِنهُ مُعتَمِراً
لَيلَةَ سِتٍّ خَلَونَ مِن رَجَبِ

7. She is for us an intimate we keep in touch with
Without anything forbidden or shameful

٧. فَهيَ لَنا خُلَّةٌ نُواصِلُها
مِن غَيرِ ما مَحرَمٍ وَلا رِيَبِ

8. Like a gazelle gently swaying its gait
Adorned with necklaces of gold

٨. مِثلُ غَزالٍ يَهُزُّ مِشيَتَهُ
أَحوى عَلَيهِ قَلائِدُ الذَهَبِ
