1. My heart regained its sickness, O my people
The day our kinswoman showed hostility

2. She spurned me though I did no wrong to her
Save that I fostered love, which was my crime

3. A noble lady of the Abde Manaf clan
United in speech, reason, and body

4. Her uncle, her aunt, and if one day
Her aunt would be an uncle another day

5. She spurned me, by Allah, though I sinned not
O Lord of Moses, the princess wronged me unjustly

6. When the rumors came to me in drips
I wondered who fabricated this then slept

7. How can I ask or be patient with her?
O my people, my love for her was deep

8. I wonder, O Bakr, was this really true?
Or did the God see it in the unknown as untrue?

9. He said, wait, think not this is true
God prolong you, we did not kill him knowingly

10. I said, go, linger not for anything
Listen and learn what really happened

11. So he went to her sensibly and prudently
With cunning, advice of love. When

12. He came to her, he said what happened after me?
Tell me, for you have sinned

13. You spurned him whom your love summoned
And saw his flesh, leaving no flesh

14. Angered by his words, she said
No, by my Lord O Bakr, it was not so

15. A mere rumor, so do not heed it
Rather we see his ties undone, by my Lord absolutely

16. God curse whoever alleged this
And repeat cursing and suspicion

17. To malign the loyal with this rejection by us
The enemies' noses are cut despite the tie, loathing
