1. In the name of God, greetings to Matayyim
Dedicated to the one of beautiful stature, honored

2. And a message I entrusted when leaving
To you, mother of Al-Haytham

3. It contains greetings, peace and mercy
My tears smudged the writing as I composed

4. From a burdened lover admitting his sin
With a heart punished though did no wrong

5. Lost in youth, she took away his sanity
Burdened with love for you, O Uthaymah Matayyim

6. He complains to you with sadness and devotion
And says: since you are bored, be kind

7. Do not kill me, O Uthaymah, for I fear
Your Lord's punishment for shedding my blood

8. If you have no mercy or compassion
Spare me being killed, do not commit sin

9. Your arrow did not miss when you shot me
While yours miss when I shoot my arrows

10. I found the basin of love bitter
When I arrived, its taste like aloes

11. No - by Him who sent Prophet Muhammad
With the light and Islam, the upright faith

12. And what the pilgrims declared and exalted
At the Station and the Black Stone's corner

13. And the Blessed Aqsa Mosque around it
And Mount Sinai, oath of the truthful, no sinner

14. I never betrayed you, O Uthaymah, nor strayed
My heart to love another, know this

15. Free me, O Uthaymah, for he
Mixed modesty with chastity and nobility

16. And kept faith in absence, never betrayed
A friend's secret - that is the Muslim's deed

17. Five months I counted and three more
After them you did not imagine

18. Eight in total passed as I treated
The illness of passionate love sick

19. The messenger stayed with you until
The messenger arrived, if only he had not

20. He brought me no line from you
To soothe my fragmented heart

21. And denied me returning greetings - I see
No good in denying greetings to one noble

22. If you blame me, you have the right
To blame for what you blamed, be generous

23. You are the princess, so hear my words
And understand some of what you missed

24. I repent to you the repentance of a sinner
Fearing punishment from a gracious king

25. Until I attain your approval, as I knew it
By my money and old tradition

26. And I seek refuge in you from you, in the morning forgive
What wrongs I committed and show clemency

27. If you accept my excuse, I will not repeat
Until you leave the graves, O greatest of women

28. If my right hand failed you I would cut it off
And after your approval, live handless
