1. A deft and skilled confectioner is he
The eye cannot be sated by looking upon him
١. وحاذقٍ مُحْكِمٌ كُنافَتَه
لا تَشْبَع العينُ منه بالنَّظَرِ
2. As though he spreads the dough upon
Hot stones when it is wrapped in live coals
٢. كأنما بَسْطُه العجينَ على
أكراه لما حُفَّت بمستِعر
3. He weaves a cloud from the clouds over
Flashing lightning that is heavy with rain
٣. يَنْسج غَيْماً من السحاب على
وامضِ برقٍ يَكْتَنُّ بالمطر
4. It's as if he opens dazzling seas
Of milk over still ponds of treachery
٤. كأنه يفتح الفواقعَ دا
راتٍ على راكدٍ من الغُدُر
5. It's like a mirage that perishes the moment
You touch it though it shines before one's sight
٥. فهْي كمثلِ السَّراب يُعْدَم من
ها اللمسُ وهْما يلوح للبصر
