1. Abundant praise to God, as I recalled Him
As I had never known in my early days

2. I brought it not to my mouth but deceived it
With sweetest kisses from supple lips

3. I tasted of its flavor what nearly reached me
To what I tasted from a beloved's sipping in trepidation

4. It tells the tale of rosewater mixed with
Saffron, musk and honey

5. Honor its visit, if only it had lasted
And that it was in it undivided

6. If I owned the earth I would not have borne
A plant other than it, on plain or hill
