1. Often led by him are the hearts when he bends,
He makes you notice how the branches incline.
١. قدٌّ تُقَدُّ به القلوبُ إذا انْثَنَى
يُنْبِيك كيفَ تَأَوَّدُ الأغصانُ
2. Like the swart plant when he grazes with it,
From the glance of his languid eye a flash.
٢. كالصَّعْدةِ السمراء قد أَوْفَى بها
من لحظِ مُقْلِته الضعيفِ سِنان
3. I thought not the fire was in his cheeks
Till the smoke on his face began to shine.
٣. ما خِلْتُ أن النار في وَجَناتِه
حتى بدا في عارضيه دخان
