1. This gulf, so welcome is its time
Oh, how delightful are its shores between its groves
١. هذا الخليجُ فمَرْحَبا بزمانِهِ
يا حَبَّذا الآصالُ بين جِنانِهِ
2. So stroll with your gaze as you wish, you will find in it
A meaning that frees the heart from its sorrows
٢. فامرحْ بطَرْفِك كيف شئتَ ترى به
معنى يَفُكُّ القلبَ من أحزانه
3. The morning breeze flows gently on its sides
And the scent of musk rises from its sweet basil
٣. تَسْرِى الصَّبا في جانبيه عَليلةً
فيَثور عرفُ المسكِ من ريحانه
4. It blows above its banks restoring them
As pearls that delight the eye in their visibility
٤. وتَهُبّ فوقَ إهابِه فتُعيده
دُرّا يعز الطرفَ عند عِيانه
5. It is as if the whispers of the branches are loved ones
Each imparting to his brother some of his melodies
٥. فكأنّ وسوسةَ الغصونِ أحبَّةٌ
كلٌّ يُبثُّ أخاه من ألحانه
6. The mill wheels of water complied and aided
The birds' singing in the branches of their nests
٦. حَنَّت دَواليبُ المياهِ وساعدتْ
شَدَواتِ لحنِ الطيرِ في أغصانه
7. And the sun on the horizon like traveling caravans
Yearning for their homelands after separation
٧. والشمسُ في أفق الغُروبِ كراحلٍ
متأسِّفٍ بالبين عن أوطانه
8. This is a view that if treated justly, for it
Khosrow Anushirvan strove, from his palace
٨. ذا منظرٌ لو أنصفوه سَعَى له
كِسْرى أنو شروان من إيوانه
9. My days in it, and my helpers
When the spell of magic clears from their eyelids
٩. لله أيامي به ومُساعِدِي
من صَحَّ عِقْدُ السحرِ من أجفانه
10. From his cheek, my roses, and the sipping of his approval
My wine, and my transport, sucking his tongue
١٠. من خَدِّه وَرْدِى ورَشْفِ رُضابه
خَمْرى ونُقْلى مَصُّ طرْفِ لسانه
11. Seeking with a gentle breeze that carried
A statue, his glance like his teeth
١١. يسعى بمِرِّيِّحٍ تَضمَّن قامةً
كالسَّمْهَرى ولحْظُهُ كسِنانه
12. So I wander in the coolness of youth and don fine clothes
With the reins of my affair in the hands of its devil
١٢. فأروح في بُرْدِ الشبابِ وأغتدِي
وزمامُ أمرِي في يَدَيْ شيطانه
