1. What a loss when the living creature withers
And his youth fades away

2. Then his loved ones take him as a corpse
After his hopes and melodies have dried up

3. And put him to sleep on thorns and rocks
Under the soil and stones

4. And they leave the remains
To a world of hidden secrets

5. He and the bitter solitude and darkness
In his scary, dreadful grave

6. Under the rule of worms, thorns and sand
And the hands of demise and torment

7. And he who yesterday was laughing merrily
And singing with the gentle breeze

8. He used to gather flowers everyday and play
By the lake shore amidst the palm trees

9. That dead man whom they carried
A senseless body towards the graves

10. He had a heart filled yesterday with ambition and longing amidst the flowers' fragrance
He had a heart that had life ambitions so what did death leave of the ambitions of life

11. Oh how sad for the poor soul, nothing remains except the darkness of affliction and death
Ah, o you who carry him to the stillness of the grave, do not hurry and walk slowly

12. Let him bid farewell to the fleeting world before departing unjustly and at a loss
And uncover his wronged body to the light of the sun and the fragrance for it is the last time

13. Afterwards, he will not see the light again, the fragrance of flowers will not spread in his grave prison
Do not wail over him but let singing be an end to what his ears have heard

14. It is enough for him that he bids farewell to his world toward his grave where his liveliness fades away
So leave his coffin on the ground for a while

15. Before you bury him under the stones
Perhaps he was afraid of the gloom of the grave, keen on the beauty of existence

16. Perhaps he wanted to bid farewell to the land before darkness prevails
Before you leave him in the solitude of death, the fragrances and melodies fade away

17. Leave him, look at yourselves, o you
Who pushed him toward the darkness

18. And he who yesterday was full of your wishes, became in the morning full of demise
That's how man hands over his loved ones to the soil and worms

19. O Lord, if only there was no life and we did not descend to this fleeting existence
Why did we come here? And what consoles us for the world that we have lost?

20. If only Eve did not taste the fruit of the tree, if only the devil did not tempt us
Its fruits taught us the idea of evil so sorrow became profound and squeezing

21. And we understood the meaning of demise and recognized the struggle to survive under the shelters
And we descended this existence to suffer

22. From the dawn of life until sunset
We all cry out from the sadness of living so oh what a sad and dreadful night

23. Oh what an injustice of sorrows! Neither children nor youths are safe from its captivity
How many a baby cries and the mother does not know why it cries and what the sorrows are
