1. In vain, my poetess, you dream
There is no dawn for this night of existence

2. In vain you ask, the secret shall not be revealed
And you will not enjoy freedom from shackles

3. In the shadows of the willow you spent an hour
Perplexed, secrets bewilder you

4. You ask the shadows, but the shade knows nothing
While destiny knows all

5. Forever you gaze at the unknown horizon
Perplexed, has the unseen been revealed?

6. Forever you ask, and destiny
Remains an impenetrable eternal silence

7. Why do you not despair? No heart before
Has uncovered the secrets for you to discover

8. Alas, o girl, you will not understand the days
So be content in your ignorance of them

9. Leave the frail boat, fate steers it
However it wishes

10. What have you gained from wrestling with the wave?
Has anguish slept from your worries?

11. Ah, o she who lost her life in dreams
What have you reaped except boredom?

12. Its secret remains buried
O futile life you spent asking

13. It is the secret of life, it has confounded minds
Until even the wise were frustrated by it

14. So despair, o girl, for before you
Its secrets were never understood, so why hope?

15. Millions came before you then faded and perished
I wonder what they gained from their nights?

16. Where is the joy and celebrations?
Of them there only remains sad graves

17. Erected on the banks of life
They departed from life’s sanctuary and took refuge

18. In the stillness of the world of the dead
How often has the gloomy night revolved

19. And the universe surrendered to it
The night witnessed that just as

20. It was, so where are those who were yesterday?
How, o fate, do you extinguish between your palms

21. Wishes and dreams?
How do hearts melt though they are light

22. And darkness lives though it is darkness?
