1. The claw of fear and pessimism has wounded
Our days and hurt our youth

2. If only the river of forgetfulness was not an illusion
That our dreams portrayed to our tongues

3. If only it was real, if only its news was true
So we can forget what was or what will be

4. And live free from the shackles of affliction
And tomorrow that has gone mad would forgive us

5. O banks of forgetfulness, the poet has come to you
So have mercy on his wounds

6. Sprinkle him with your cold dark water
And have pity on his trials

7. For he is the heart encircled
By the thorns of years

8. You gave him sensitive feelings and said
Be the first to cry in life

9. O banks of forgetfulness, if only this wave
Would overwhelm the sad existence

10. Washing away the sins, tears and despair
And every wound in his stabbed heart

11. The pain of life, o banks, is strong
And the agony of death is stronger and harsher

12. In the darkness of life we waver now
And perish soon and forget

13. Each lifetime is a poem
Written in the book of life by the hand of time

14. And tomorrow will erase the whole book
And the letters will melt away in the shrouds
