1. Between al-Baqa'i and al-Taj is honorable nobility
Between the battlegrounds of glances and hearts

2. He who is struck by his companion's arrow says
I am the slain, though no sin or disgrace

3. Both praise the plunge of thought
Into every gentle, delightful meaning

4. One says to the other, unconcerned:
Stop blaming me and railing, you boor

5. What can you say when I have answers
To establish with passion at desire's court?

6. Stop this opposition, don't wave its banners
For how many has it killed and revived in hearts!

7. If you took my path, you'd be a truer
More joyful lover, pleasing as you wish

8. If the guided submitted to the guide, hoping
For the herald's promise of relief after despair

9. Whoever of them has the crown, his party
Are the people of Badr - no disgrace will they fear
