1. If you tried describing yourself and man
Has more control over himself, certainly you

2. When pure water springs from your words
And you strike fire.

3. And you suffer quick thoughts to collect
Meanings and a blazing mind.

4. You were, in what you did, O Ibn Sa'id
Leaving above what you grasped briefly

5. Then you failed to describe your qualities in verse
Or is it not that verses fail?

6. So if you order that I collect the jewels
Have patience until I dive into the seas
