1. I see the sides of earth quake at your name,
And its edges tremble in fear of your mention.

2. Why else do I see every deserter

4. The fugitive fears the limit of the abode
As the captive fears his shackles and chains.

6. Two fires in both abodes follow each other,
So who is like him, undertaking and owed?

7. He who didn’t believe Hell, disbelief
Hurls him to its depth, hurling and shoved.

8. He used to see duty in religion as void,
Is he now, in what touched him, duty-bound?

9. In you is for us in the deserters a remainder,
Though their blindness to it and you did astound.

10. How many worries, had you not been, wouldn’t be,
Nor would, but for you, have uncovered and found.

11. Your days in peace and war, both of them,
Are equal, blood spilled and red skirmished around.

12. Not with different colors, yet they did separate!
O Lord of one color maneuvered and crowned!

13. To God belong palms whose generosity like might
Seize the dew in both states, overflowed and renowned.

14. A soul the earth is too narrow for it, a resolve
That looks down on it from loftiness, esteemed and renowned.

15. A heart at the edges of every fearsome thing,
Even if an intrepid assailant goes there headlong.

16. And two hosts of horse that you drove to the fight,
To a stance well-trained, neighing and prancing around.

17. And a horse host that your mention barred from the meeting,
So they trotted as if the wind gusts blew them around.

18. You reached the highest stations in the Highest,
While everyone wishes himself and procrastinates around.

19. You are Abu Shubail, baring them
So they grow, and the army to army is compared around.

20. For the doubt of time you will remain until you end it,
And woe to the doubt of time for what you will leave abound!

21. Leave it will, lasting spite, and clouds
Of generosity, and that insight doesn’t confound!

22. It’s as if, whenever I say, I hear everything
I see around me swear and avow.

23. Of poetry, that which its proofs of truth stood up,
And of it, a tale about you is composed and renowned.
