1. The short night was not prolonged
Nor were the stars prevented from setting

2. Except by the will of the Almighty
Who rules all matters

3. With an eye that does not sleep
Though it appears indifferent at times

4. It does not turn away from my tears
And in it weakness is never seen

5. Whether disputing my sins
Or forgiving my excuses

6. Do you see the signs of my tribulations
Other than cycles that come and go

7. If He willed He could have shortened
My lengthy agonies

8. And though I wore the garb of my soul
As owner or borrower

9. And Satan appeared to me
To seduce me with deceitful charm

10. I took it off and wore instead
The clothes of betrayal, clouds of misfortune

11. Whatever you wish, desist and
Seek forgiveness, you will find a Forgiving Lord

12. Unless you were of the group
Who betrayed though they witnessed al-Ghadir

13. And conspired among themselves
To install an unrightful leader

14. With every harbouring chest
Filled with latent grudges

15. Vying for dominion, installing
His hopes surreptitiously

16. Inheriting it among themselves, not
Letting anyone else rule, not even briefly

17. Until the riser of Ahmad's house stood up
To stir it into action

18. And took charge of Islam
Filling its darkness with light

19. As if he had torn down
The pillars propping up their graves

20. Until Al-Hakim the supported
Stood up as its champion

21. Revealing signs that found
No helpers other than his state

22. O you who draws from his glories
To compose poetry and prose!

23. Did you think the pens
Had what could exhaust the oceans?
