1. When the dew has many faces
If it journeys at dawn, its signs shine
١. وللنَّدى أوجهٌ إِذا سفرَت
لطارقٍ أسفرَت دلائِلُها
2. And most amazing are those who are straitened by it
The hunter and the governor are its agents
٢. وأعجبُ الناسِ من تَضيقُ بِه
صَيداءُ والواسِطيُّ عامِلُها
3. And here are the turns of fate, they have returned
And I do not know who I will meet them with
٣. وها صُروفُ الزَّمانِ قَد رجَعَت
ولستُ أَدري بِمن أقابِلُها
4. And you are most deserving of it, it has nothing
Except the noble morals that perfect it
٤. وَأنتَ أَولَى بِها وَلَيسَ لَها
إِلا شَريفُ الأَخلاقِ كامِلُها
5. And in my arrival to you, it has arrived
Stretching out to me its beginnings
٥. وَفي وُصولي إِليكَ قَد وصَلَت
إليَّ مُمتَدَّةً أَوائِلُها
6. And it seems to fight me
Unless one rises from your generosity to subdue it
٦. وهيَ عَلى ما أَرى تُقاتِلُني
إِن لَم يَقُم مِن نَداكَ قاتِلُها
