1. Without your moderation, judgment is immoderate,
And without your beauty, this is the ugliness of your deed to me.

2. O sister, deputy of the days, unique
Among events, I refuse to say "welcome."

3. When I find you most afflicted with what I’ve been afflicted,
Languid, I am more deserving of languor than you.

4. And kohl on the sick eyelids, its sickness
Exceeds you in sickness, not in kohl.

5. I loved him with knowledge that he would kill me,
And how did you oppose my knowledge of him, O my deed?

6. He blames me that they blame me, so I said to them,
"Stop, my sin is people's sins in reproaching me."

7. I do not listen, nor listen to reproach,
Whoever loves does not hear, nor say.

8. And nights have cycles, the most difficult
Is what embeds the heart with passion and madness.

9. When they stay behind the chest, inaccessible
To Ali ibn Abd al-Da'im ibn Ali

10. And generosity does not cure all illnesses.
Does it help me that the sought came inclusively

11. With his generosity, and the beloved dressed in stinginess?
Until when my state faltered and changed it

12. What of my distraction from it and my preoccupation?
Ali flowed in his habitual state with me

13. So he came like the falling of rain.
You used to outrun cattle starting

14. My praise, so if you can, outrun my hope.
I began to seek him, not seeking moderation,

15. Scheming the gathering's separation with ruses.
I will clothe you however much its coarseness increases

16. When what I wore you wears out and frays.
And send Abu al-Fadl between the two periods, for

17. You have exceeded with me the term and deadline.
