1. I say though he is determined
To be unbending, obstinate,
١. أقولُ وقَد شَدَّ من عَزمهِ
مُقيمٌ عَلى أنَّه لا يَلِين
2. Be gentle with us, take us lightly,
Let your patience exceed ours.
٢. وتاهَ عَلينا بِرفقٍ لنَا
فأكثَرَ مِن صَبرِنا ما يَكون
3. You are not Chosroes whose crown,
When it appears, lights up the forehead.
٣. فما أنتَ كِسرى الذي تاجُهُ
إذا لاحَ أَشرقَ منه الجَبِين
