He endured adversity without protest
٢. مانعَ عند أهلِهِ
صرفَ الرَّدى فَما امتَنَع
3. A full moon rose over him
The clouds of fate rose as it did
٣. بدرٌ علَيهِ طَلعَت
سُحبُ المَنايا إذ طَلَع
4. He was hope, now severed
He was a river, now dammed
٤. كان رَجاءً فانقَطَع
وكانَ شعباً فانصَدَع
