1. Generosity, glory, and refinement have returned
Since the departure of the one who caused distress

2. And pretensions were cast off from a moon
Whose rising brightens my heart's horizon

3. And the fever's heat has been tempered
Now that the veil has lifted and the clouds scattered

4. With the recovery of that noble body
Time itself has healed and hopes have been renewed

5. My lord, I was not defiant
But longing stirred like embers in me

6. Your anger was no vengeful fury
But desire for your grace burning within

7. The world was joyful at your healing here
With the clouds of displeasure banished from your pleased countenance

8. Your recovery brought triumph and nobility
To the heights of magnanimity once more

9. With the blessings of al-Ma'mun you have recovered
And joy and celebration have returned to life

10. With the restoration of your temperament, sincerity overflows
Bringing delight, while sorrow retreats

11. Have no fear, O Trustworthy One, of anguish
For God watches over you, pouring out blessings

12. Our souls would ransom you from any harm
O exalted one, of lofty lineage

13. No harm comes to you from stinginess
O essence, crowning the ranks

14. You whose munificence shames even the clouds
The clouds only give water, while your hand gives gold

15. Does your sword or your right hand in battle
Amaze me more, so wondrous to behold?

16. I would sacrifice myself for the Master, my brother Sharaf
Graced with benevolence and noble ancestry

17. Son of leadership and fortune, of a people
Known for their loyalty and excellence

18. A moon among noble stars appears
Lighting the darkness, outshining the other stars

19. A splendid prince excelling in manner
Whose soft speech nourishes the pliant twig

20. Valiant, whose neck is graced with the pearls
Of praise, and refined since weaning

21. He does not forget what we proffer in eulogy
Rather, he forgets only what he bestows

22. A lion, witnessed by the honey-hued spear points
And the steeds and plain and low shrubs

23. Lord of eloquence and rhetoric, whose verse
Makes the Arabs boast with pride

24. His peace and safety endure
As long as the spheres turn through the epochs
