1. The songs of birds upon the branch
Invite the longing one to joy

2. And the nightingale's melody
Heals the lovesick of distress

3. The laughing of doves repeating
Increasing longing with grace

4. And so the francolin chirps in
Praise of a noble prince

5. As if a harbinger recited
His virtues of high repute

6. The glorious lord of bounty
Supreme in rank and attribute

7. A lion pursuing prey
Of gazelles without delay

8. Hunting the beasts in the woods
And fighting the enemy troops

9. His passion made him beloved
Hunting birds from all groups

10. The falcon humbly obeyed
Following his will and troops

11. The peregrine he enticed
Choosing from every young troop

12. His goshawks came answering
Rising with pride and trope

13. Bestowed with excellent hounds
Lovely passing like a meteor

14. Their wings when swooping down
Captured like gold or fire

15. Dancing eyes snatched from
The light of lightning and pyre

16. Adorning a wondrous form
Like dawn in the night awry

17. Their claws that seized prey
Swords severing rope by rope

18. How they catch oblivious birds
To the wind's stomach without hope

19. Screaming at fledglings
The peregrine brings to scope

20. Safe neither high nor low
Nor a fledgling in dusty slope

21. You see the hunter huntress
Never missing groups in scope

22. Outpacing lightning in her speed
Without tiring or hope

23. Eggs seem to her like wings
And the brown upon her nape

24. Her eye's shine underneath
Gleaming like a sword or grape

25. How she hunts and pounces
Returning with birds crisp

26. And so the courageous hunting
Tawny falcon charging crisp

27. The hawk was her passion
Running like stars in crisp

28. Bolting like an arrow
Denying escape or hope

29. No eye can see her coming
But outspeeding all with hope

30. Her claws never missing
The neck or nape crisp

31. You see the goshawk in fierceness
Extending like a troubled lion

32. Ruby his eyes and coral
Plucked from them without hope

33. Never facing his red eyes
But birds perished in hope

34. Or a flock he faced
Vanquished by fear and hope

35. The quails said a fateful arrow
Has befallen us without hope

36. Who will save us from
This goshawk of famed trope?

37. He screams with a voice dispelling fear
Attacking them with anger crisp

38. For I belong to Bishr the happy
Lord of glory and my hope

39. May God make his fortune last
With long life beyond all scope
