And how often it led me to bitter sorrows

Whose faithfulness did not remain a traitor

That used to extend claws against lions?

11. Oh my agony - how did the grave become his dwelling
When he never accepted the belly of rabbits as a home?

12. And how did it confine a generous and bountiful planet

And the crooked ones bitterly weep over him

15. The orphans cry over the overflowing of his kindness
The outstretched hands of the orphans called him a sorcerer

Crying over ruins and relics

Lit the planets of the elite with lights

18. A glorious, refined man whose manners
Arabs and non-Arabs narrate

19. How much did he establish justice through his actions
And roll up darkness of injustice like scrolls

20. Why don't tears pour from my eyelids as
His hands poured goodness among people like rivers?

21. And how can the regions not fill with my sorrow
Over one whose favors filled the horizons?

22. How can I have patience and solace while his achievements
Have become like fleeing from injustice in his time?

23. And how can one forget when these flowers shine
Brought as mementos of his sublime morals?

24. I cannot suffice with crying around as an apology
Rather, I will cry over his states and tribulations

25. Still my tears water the earth pouring down
Or make the meadows bloom with flowers

26. Oh how my soul yearns when disasters strike
With no Shihab to frighten them with warnings

27. Who was a refuge for companions in peace
And a conqueror of enemies at the break of war?

28. Who did not accept but piety as deed
And only preferred victory for truth?

29. Who did the calamities not touch his companion
And the hands of woe did not treat him as a neighbor?

30. Who made justice fertile during his days that its
Gardens produced fruits people picked?

31. Who was like rain calling every barren land
With clouds of generosity to turn green wherever he visited?

32. Who was like a lion - I dare not compare him
To a lion for fear of belittling his merit

33. Rather, a stalwart whom tribulations did not shake
He confronted fate - the sweet and the bitter

34. How often fate insulted him so he showed
Patience and opposed it - increasingly manifest

35. My friend, make me happy and sympathize with me
Step out and pick the ripe fruits of elegy

36. The condition of the stricken when the wound dries
No blame if poetry there did not flow long

37. I penned it with tears mixed with blood
And sorrow ignited a raging fire in the aching heart

38. Oh soul, wait - this is the Judgement of God
He does not keep servants or spare freemen

39. He does not heed a brother of glory and honor
And no residents of palaces lasted eternally

40. The hands of death turned against Caesar
As it turned against Khosrow and ruined his abode

41. If he left this world, his memory remains
Enduring with time - fragrant

42. He met his Lord confidently so he became
A companion in the eternal gardens with the righteous

43. Ridwan called him from the highest of heavens pleased
"Come O Shihab for you have found forgiveness"

44. "Enter with what you used to do in the world
Of kind acts - openly and discretely"

45. Upon you from your Lord the Merciful is what
The angels of eternity loudly repeat in prayer
