1. The morning breezes from knowledge
Blew with euphorbia and lavender

2. And the lightning's gleam gave news
Of the smile of a beloved mouth

3. My heart was stirred with passion
The covenant of loved ones recalled

4. How can there be joy when my liver
Is ruptured, oh friend, from love of them

5. I have not forgotten past covenants
Between the soul's ease and nearness to them

6. Does that meadow's bird sing
From passion's rapture or from pain?

7. If some of my yearning befell you
Or some of my passion, you would not survive

8. Who will help me, or delight me,
With talk of love, though imperfectly?

9. Morning breeze, do you have news
Of those whose fragrance you carry?

10. If only you visited them at dawn
And chatted with us about them

11. Cups of longing, take my heart
With a gentle breeze to their abode

12. Relate my passions in their dwellings
Of a soul distant from their home

13. O you living there, life gave you to drink
Toward the cattle peacefully grazing

14. And the rain gave you to drink, you are clothed
In dignity by your Lord and favor

15. A meadow bending its branch
In rapture at the singing bird

16. And the smiling lips of flowers
When the scent of their pollen spreads

17. Valleys of al-Muzayn where poured
Generosities like heavy rain

18. The prudent one nurtured in merit
And reared in bestowing honor

19. His sublime rank all bowed to
As wisdom adorned his determination

20. Like a lion in his valor
His ease like rain quenching all thirst

21. Blessed with a prince who gained
The glory of nobles and bounty

22. A lion cub who enriched
His palm with generosity over gold

23. Of glorious repute, Basheer al-Sa`d, he who
Every mouth praises with eulogy

24. Upholder of the highest justice
Protector of truth from nothingness

25. With the light of Shahab's meteors he dispelled
Oppression and erased the darkness of injustice

26. Full moon, and scion of his intrepidity,
A star sparkling with wisdom

27. Al-Qasim endowed him with resolve
With the clashing of steeds and the pen

28. The protector, destroying on a day of battle
The wavering discord and every aggressor

29. O best prince, I have strung
As pearls the praises for him

30. Scattered in strands of prayer
The eulogies for you shone

31. Take them with pardon, they spread
So excel with nobility and affection
