1. For God I have a dove that told me its condition:
Water pouring and the heat of a blazing fire,
١. للهِ حَمَّامٌ حَكَتْنِيْ حالُهُ
ماءٌ يَصُوبُ وحَرُّ نارٍ تُضْرَمُ
2. So it seems its fires and its waters
Are the body between enjoying and luxuriating.
٢. فكأنَّما نِيرانُهُ ومِياهُهُ
والجِسْمُ بينَهُما يَلَذُّ ويَنْعَمُ
3. A heart tossed between the pleasures of passion
And its worries pray while the tears flow.
٣. قَلْبٌ تَقَلَّبَ بينَ لذَّاتِ الهَوى
وحَشاهُ يَصْلى والمَدامِعُ تَسْجُمُ
