1. She found pleasure after me, though long have I been gone,
That she cannot bear to be far from me.

2. And she took a friend instead of the beloved,
And replaced affection with affection.

3. I wonder if that heart still remains,
Or if in the distance she lost that heart.

4. Or if that is her habit, to love and forget,
Or if out of spite for mankind, she hurts mankind.
