1. I see the meaning of your beauty, so my submission to you in love becomes sweet to me,
And I long for the melody that you possess,

So by Allah, how many nights have I spent

3. In the pleasure of living, while the watcher was absent,
Moving my wine cups, while the beloved was my drinking companion,

4. And the cups of love's joy were passing around,
And I attained my desire, beyond what I had hoped for,

5. So oh what rapture, if this would last for me,
My critic reproached me, he does not know what love is,

6. And where is the ardent lover in isolation from the friend,
So leave me and whoever I love, for my envier has died,

7. And my watcher has been absent since I drew near my beloved.
