1. Did you not ask the horsemen about Sulaym
Ibn Naḍla while he was dejected and downcast?

2. They saw him charge ahead while he was tattered,
And the ugly man benefits his family.

3. So they did not fear his prayers against them,
For beneath the foam is milk that is pure.

4. He unleashed upon them with his sword a prayer
As the young horse bites the gathered crowds.

5. So he freed his companion from his shackles
And wounded some while escaping, wounded.
