1. Her slipper shone, its scent exhilarating,
A man came by, crying for help.

2. She drowned him in abundant tears—
The sea still has a way for the swimmer.

3. The elephant fears not to drown
But to choke to death instead.

4. One day she tested my patience and said, “Help me
Quench this raging fire with your body.”

5. I said, “I have the strength for death but
I cannot come close to you, desiring.”

6. She shortened her shield and cast
Her nape to the ground, exposed.

7. I saw her allure and turned away,
Leaving her prolonging her moan.

8. ShanTaf is but a she-donkey,
Pitiful is he who mounts the braying jenny.

9. May God separate body from spirit—
My body desires to mount ShanTaf’s.
