1. Talents of a Bestower whose gifts support each other
Rewarding you for tending them or being pleased

2. God brought you an elite group of brave men
Exempting the like and choosing some

3. Furling one and leaving three
He loaned them to you, with excellent giving and withholding

4. Giving you all the good you wish
Adding length to fill length and breadth

5. You still, in lifetimes, opposed a group
And raced ahead of them in every honored sprint

6. The virtuous count you most virtuous, protection
And least moneyed, but most honorable of repute

7. You obtain praise overflowing
Which you allocate freely, obligatorily

8. That which you choose and love
Is matched by the decree of fate decreed

9. Be consoled for the past, even if you were hurt
By the hand of time breaking off one of your branches, fresh

10. And be glorious, who anger does not diminish
So when God loved to subdue it, it was subdued

11. He who the times usurped shall be accounted
To God a treasure which does not waste or diminish

12. For that which accomplishes matters has a King
Above all kings, ratifying what was ratified

13. You reached the times the tidings from you
But did not reach, save patience and pure generosity

14. You were, O Banū Wahb, our life and light
So be sky, and let none else be land

15. If you have deprived me and dismissed me
Stinting while causing me ample pain in refusal
