1. Say to Ayyub, and the speech is quarrelsome
And the answers one day will be given

2. Be silent afterwards, so do not mention misfortune
While alive, for you are the limited time

3. My misfortune is in what you say condolences
While your misfortune is deadly

4. By what has befallen Al-Mu'ayyad among you
And Ibn Sa'dan, examples are given

5. You visited him while good deeds upon him
Were forthcoming, so good fortune departed

6. When the misfortunes of the world smiled at him
You turned away from him, so it was the separation

7. If a knot of covenant befell him with misfortune
It's a misfortune mountains pass away from

8. It is no wonder that power declines
And men die, it is the usual way

9. But the wonder is that things disappear
Which the decline was not guided to

10. Like what befell Al-Mu'ayyad among you
After hopes were entrusted in him

11. That is the misfortune, O sons of the Sheikh's mother
Which permits critics to speak

12. That is a misfortune, in it the venom of snakes
Impregnable to criticism, no reproach in it

13. That is a misfortune, like a torrential flood on the land
Majesty, as majesty can be

14. That is a misfortune, if it stayed by the sea daily
It would end up without fresh water

15. That is a misfortune, if it were in the Garden of Eternity
It would change the state of its people

16. That misfortune does not breach its limit
And what does not cease will not cease

17. That is the misfortune of misfortunes and dust
And the misfortune of mankind dependent on it

18. Like what befell Al-Mu'ayyad among you
While at the peak of glory, unobtainable
