1. The first of the month, the first of the week
The two auspicious ones rose with the best of risings

2. Both arriving equally, the best of arrivals
Their chests gathered in an accord that calls out

3. "Oh what a healer of rifts!"
Like an embrace gathering two estranged

4. At reconciliation, renewal and return
A month has come that you love, O son of Yahya

5. Not for the forbidden joys it holds
But for the accord in it, accompanying religion

6. With piety and humility
And a prayer you perform every instant

7. With long prostrations and bowing
And chastity of heart, glance and limbs

8. From all prohibited, forbidden fruit
In awe of God, yes, but more in desire from you

9. Of a measure aloof from depravity, upheld
The blessed bird has come, Muhammad

10. Beautiful of appearance and voice
And the merit is yours, O son of Yahya, over him

11. Undisputed and undemanded
If he came out of blessed hunger's impulse

12. He will find you the best slayer of hunger
God thanked you for him

13. The best work, replicating the like
You have favors over him that abase to truth

14. Admitting them most submissively
He came in summer and was shaded, by you

15. Rather by your lavishness, like the pampered
And you have long extended your shade in winter over him

16. Beyond searing heat, towering high
He need not see in it, until the end of days

17. Any other provision, hoped for cloud
What you provide him in it suffices him

18. Your fearing God with dew and tears
So remain until you see for your month

19. A thousand like it, duplicated
Of smooth temper, and wretched, accursed foe

20. The flock is safe, the beast of prey frightened away
Of tranquil soul, abundant grace, you count not

21. The state of the scorned or anguished
Inheriting, bequeathing, delegating, benefiting

22. Wealth depleted, wealth renewed
Not denying grace, or God denying you

23. His gifts decisively cut off
Glorious, glorious, as if you were a stream

24. Ever pouring, abundant springs
With wealth scattered in charity

25. Without amassed, hoarded riches
You do not hoard wealth, but acquire it

26. To guard reputations like coats of mail
In the joy of the grateful and patient's temper

27. Not the sullen, grumbling mood
Oh Son of Yahya, let the deluded

28. Renounce their delusions - this is a month of renouncing
If one thought you had a peer

29. Resembling the sincere yet duped
None contend with you, O Son of Yahya, over generosity

30. For you cannot be surpassed
You are the origin of origins in merit and goodness

31. When enumerated and branched out
If the moon and sun vied with your glory

32. Then they would bow before you most submissively
