1. O Abu Ahmad, none like you fails
To gain merit through status, you deserve praise

2. I am free yet I gifted myself a slave to you
Rightfully, so take me as your slave

3. A slave must see his master's advice
As his path, his guidance and his care

4. Part of advice is to tell you
What bubbles up in me, if I have anything to say

5. Who comes seeking refuge, do not
Prolong conversing with him, that is not the aim

6. If only one sent by you comes on purpose
With a thick book, seeing the pillar as pillar

7. The honored ladies said, I am not for jest
Rather for steadfast, to me as stronghold

8. So write the books and send messengers in need
Of your petitioner, for in that is glory

9. If the need of an entertained one busies you
That would not be acceptable to you

10. You remain as you have always been and Ali
Remains so, in effort and mobilization

11. His gaze remains fixed on the lofty goal
Seeing frivolity in virtues as misguidance

12. Exerting body, soul, and effort long
Not seeing hardship as true hardship

13. Most generous of people in hospitality
To the hopeful, and in helping the deprived

14. You see he does not seek praise out of
Greed, people think him an ascetic

15. Only so his hands remain unsullied
Not tainted, pure like honey

16. Many a promise made to Ali
Bore fruit with God's help and aid

17. Often he did good without promise
When promise made, he kept his word

18. So if a promise came from him and he saw
Violating it as breach, as he saw promise as covenant

19. You are his heir, inheritor of his glory
So honor with that glory a glorious man

20. Seek excuses and refuse rebuke
O son of the uniquely glorious

21. Do not be like one who cast off help
Bare and brandished his sword for war

22. And make it incumbent on Abul Hasan the virtuous
To be victorious through good

23. And may he face the vicissitudes with bravery
Bearing the heavy among them with resilience

24. Let no sayer say about my hopeful one
His provision failed, may God grant him plenty

25. As for the promise, let him protect it, it is not
Far that he make the promise come true

26. Let not what you hoped of lasting fortune
And affliction be like lightning and thunder

27. And let him beware the evil of the base, not from
Haters but people of towns and dwellings

28. The youth is outfitted in the matter, striving
In it, wearing the garb made for him

29. So let the utmost striving one can do
Be the best dressing and raiment

30. Without you my son Ali has no
Shortcoming, nor after you any destination

31. And if I fear a malign time
May God show me your face as fortune

32. May God make your power over the lofty
Enough, and I need no other power
