1. Say to the one who adorned beauty with meaning, grandeur and majesty
O moon, you do not cease to be in perfect,

2. Commanding as a full moon, and in growth as a crescent
How was the consequence of your moderation? It was

3. Health that is beneficial and tranquility
And the balance of temperament as you were granted

4. In creation and by the Creator, balance
So God did that because you have not ceased

5. To cure the sick with what He desired, actively
O most high in station, no lowly one's place

6. Rises up high, his place rises high
May God thank that closeness to the people and enriching them when they ask

7. You do not cease to be near every healthy person complaining of isolation and emaciation
And by my life if you came close in meeting and attaining you became far from reaching

8. And a hand made obligatory upon you a right that you do good deeds
May God thank that He preferred you with sight and opinion

9. And position until you surpassed men
God made people's composition smooth and made your livelihood easy flowing

10. While thanking when you spend willingly, accepting
And receiving, reciprocating reception

11. And when I spoke this seeking more
Connection newly found, rather union

12. My apology for imposing on you is a sin
So lessen my stumbling, you lengthened speaking

13. By my life I have come with a great crime
With my apology, and I spoke badly

14. And my apology for my apology embarrasses you
So imposing on you increased day by day and at night saddens me

15. A pact with my palm for your palm’s favor is a pact
That prevents the insistent asker from asking

16. Except that I see gifts as obligations
And livelihood always and shade

17. Always tepid, frowning, careless
And the brother of resolve dislikes negligence

18. And the gathering of the two caravans is impossible
For some people, though you will not see it as impossible

19. And a little that lasts is more hope and love
With a little that picks the fruits

20. I am a servant who exceeded my limit and became
As if I do not know how to lessen

21. And my nature and composition
When it met one who imposes led me to imposition

22. Whenever I struggled you followed my struggle so I scattered right and left
Only because my soul shows me

23. Everything through your palm’s generosity as possessions
And so you are, for you every day

24. A downpour if downpoured gives drink
You give pleasures and feed us generosity so it pours heavy rain

25. So my service is mortgaged to accommodating a neighbor
Whom I accept as sufficient and connected

26. And what I accept is a small part
While you carry the great burden

27. So remove my defect, for my livelihood
Prevents the excuse of one who wants to be sick

28. Its measure, when you weigh it
You will find it a mithqal of your thousands

29. The measure of what I asked for in livelihood is little
And though it shocked me and overwhelmed me

30. And whenever you wish to increase, what
Prevents rain from flooding the plains

31. Or reversing the Euphrates or holding back the flood
If it met a channel so it flowed

32. The power of my will cannot prevent me from the obligatory generosity in the state of wealth and generosity
O living one, the heavy rains moistened its roots

33. Follow it continuously with pouring rain
O my rescue when I seek rescue

34. And my hopes when I lose hopes
That perfection in you has a right

35. To demand it from your hands perfection
And gifts renew your palm

36. So renew the state of your palm’s planting
Family of Wahb, God gifted you the gift of God

37. So you have not ceased to have misgivings about it
You have an awe that makes lions cower

38. And justice that summons deeds
I said when matters were referred to you

39. Kingship settled in its rightful place
The earth was darkness and inferno

40. Vastly afflicting the people with tribulation and misguidance
So you invented intellects that are suns

41. And originated from generosity shade
We looked with pure, truthful eyes

42. When an imaginer presented fantasies
So we found your excellencies to be elites

43. And we found the excellencies of some people to be common
How much hope in you provoked beauty

44. And giving from you harbored camels
You did not cease to be promising, granting

45. A drink to fulfill hopes
A well-wisher hopes for your favor and turns

46. To you with superior virtues pouring
So you set out to the son of misery, mounts

47. And dismount to the son of bounty, mounts
If you are above others rise and people rise

48. But you are not, and others are not, alike
Masters of people are like mountains and you

49. Are like stars that surpass mountains
The directions of your abode were touched by gentle, light breezes

50. From winds that drive heavy clouds
Who fears loss of bounty upon him

51. Family of Wahb, you will not fear loss
God’s bounty loved your brother

52. And his youth so it does not desire loss
In Abu Al-Qasim the beloved and the distributor what prevents

53. The bored from boredom and fatigue?
We did not find a lover, if the longing inclined

54. In his rule he wishes to move
If bounty saw a peer of your brother

55. And his son, let it replace the substitutes
I do not covetously insist except I say openly, permitted

56. May those cheeks become sandals
For you, time is fit for sandals

57. I have, through God, a master like him if a like can be mastered
We did not find him refusing wants and if

58. He was above he devised means
Qasim, the distributor of gifts and pure deeds

59. May God increase him in rising high
Ask me about Abu Al-Hussein whose dawn appeared

60. So he enriched lest the hyenas kindle
That is a figure prepared for imagination

61. And he imagines to be seen imagining
With knotty, pure pacts except unity

62. And rights, pure except dissolution
So you see his honor under his protection

63. And you see his money humiliated through him
And when a man protects through a generous one

64. Or a man is seen protecting through one who switches
That beauty and handsomeness in him was completed

65. With traits you do not doubt disorder in
The flaw in those traits is that they are not touched

66. By a fault that would be singled out in them
I take refuge in them from the evil eye except

67. I hold back the eye from striking beauty
Twisting in slenderness and coquetry

68. I did not say “here it is” for anything besides convention
And poetry rides horrors

69. A logic that casts metaphors and names
The one given a nickname and does not care

70. Jahili in, as you knew, but
You do not see him dealing with ignorance

71. And my imposing praise on you is something
The mind placed below it as a restraint

72. Praise only adds more light
To their meanings through kindling

73. You are like a sword whose water is from it and poetry
Is like the whetstone that excels in sharpening

74. And that which poetry adorns itself with you is smoother
Than its smoothing over you, no doubt

75. And excuse the concision of a loyal one
Who did not fear prolixity boring

76. No, by no means, your right is fulfilled
By a little, and that is what will not be changed

77. God forbid that your meeting bore you
Of what adorns you like jewelry

78. But when were you not loving and admiring
Your praisers’ praises, long

79. Or when did I not see much as little
To you in truth of intention and borrowing?

80. Except that I say after this
You are the One, the Almighty, exemplar

81. And my saying is the length of my measure, and if
I said my saying was the length of your measure, it would prolong

82. If I intended praise in this letter I would have wearied you with dragging out
Saying whenever you did and acted, no doubt words would overflow

83. Except that I say so God may see
My words competing with deeds

84. Then I say after this
You are the One, the Almighty, exemplar

85. And my saying is the length of my measure, and if
I said my saying was the length of your measure, it would prolong

86. If I intended praise in this letter I would have wearied you with dragging out
Saying whenever you did and acted, no doubt words would overflow
