1. A singer with his chill and call
The fire dies when he opens his mouth
١. ومُغنٍّ بِبَرْده ونَداهُ
تَخمدُ النارُ حين يَفتح فاهُ
2. He sings without satiety and does not
Fall silent but by his rule and consent
٢. يتغنى بغير رُزءٍ ولا يسـ
ـكتُ إلا بحُكْمِه ورضاهُ
3. The listener wishes, when he sings,
That before that he was deaf to his echo
٣. يتمنى السَّميعُ حين يُغنّي
أنه قبلَ ذاك صُمَّ صداهُ
