1. The lover has the right to love his beloved,
And the patient has the right to the physician.
١. وَلَهُ المحبِّ إلى الحبيبِ
ولَهُ المريضِ إلى الطبيبِ
2. My beloved appeared, so he disappeared from me,
With the pleasures of beauty and sweetness.
٢. بان الحبيبُ فبان عنـ
ـك بلذَّتَيْ حُسنٍ وطيبِ
3. Indeed, conversations of tender youth
Will remind me of my beloved.
٣. إنّي لَتُذْكِرني الحبيـ
ـبَ سوالفُ الرَّشأ الربيبِ
4. The full moon over the branch, and the
Moist branch upon the sand dune.
٤. والبدرُ فوق الغصنِ والـ
ـغصنُ الرطيبُ على الكثيبِ
5. Talk of the faithful friend, and abstain
From talk of the beloved.
٥. عرِّجْ على ذكرِ الصديـ
ـقِ وَعَدِّ عن ذكرِ الحبيبِ
6. How many deceitful ones multiply for me,
And how few good words come to me.
٦. كم مُكْثرٍ لي مُخْبِثٍ
ومُقِلِّ قولٍ لي مُطيبِ
