1. He who pardons a favor he received
While another expresses ingratitude falsely against me

2. The soul of that one ransomed the soul of this from perdition
And from every feared matter that has descended

3. How can a man who is not virtuous
Be content as ransom for a virtuous man?

4. I saw the one called Al-Husayn whose deeds
Became beautiful until he surpassed every doer

5. When thankfulness is prolonged, the length of his palms once
Doubles seeking those long flames

6. He granted me favor and left no deeds for a doer
And I spoke leaving no words for a speaker

7. Yes, I left words for the whole day
For others tomorrow, rather, for me tomorrow in the gatherings

8. I will glorify him for a long time after a short time
And he will glorify me for a long time after a short time

9. A young man who sets up chess so that he may see in it
Ends to which an ignorant man's eye does not rise

10. And it benefits the Sultan in that he
Wants by it to avoid pitfalls

11. And the arrangement of what is in it, if pondered
Is an example for arranging soldiers and cannons

12. Contemplate his wisdom in the subtleties of his jest
You find it wisdom in the momentous matters

13. When we met, he saw the good in her and did not cease
To see the good that an intelligent person sees in a hand

14. So he saw the ends of conversations tomorrow
With an old eye from the old intellectuals

15. When he turns ideas in his hand once
You see glory in the imagination of one who jokes

16. He was not one who chooses them out of frivolity
Like some entertainments or one of the occupations

17. I witnessed, I conversed with him and found him
Hearing, learned of heart from every questioner

18. Deaf to vileness and censure in intimacy
Prolonging opposition to the reproachers

19. He is generous and gives his money in his rights
Upon a method between the two paths, just

20. So if excitement from censure stirs him
His obligations become supplemented with supererogatory deeds

21. The favor is not defective from him, for he
Bore its fang without being defective

22. I fell short of the length of my gratitude and my seas did not boil
And I did not find it long other than futile

23. But it is a dawn that appeared before its sun
And droplets that gave glad tidings before rain

24. Go slowly, O Husayn, go slowly
I will make it run in the long similes

25. And that is not because of my generosity and the perfection of my reward
Rather, it is because of his perfected favor

26. He will force me to repeat his praise
Pearls will follow continuously for him in virtues

27. His gift was not that of a stingy person
Rather, it is of him, the nature of a giver

28. A brother who did not cease to shoot at the fighters of my hardship
May God ward off his enemies by fighters

29. God refused that intimacy would lapse from him
When intimacy becomes a sin of a stingy person

30. He pursues his purposes in the direction of his nobility
When some of the direction is the slip of an archer

31. He has a spacious calmness that testifies it is
Annoying to a maker or fulfilling for an attainer

32. A hand rewarded him, burdening his hands with his right
The reward of a man who is not heedless of his right

33. The favor did not become defective from him, for he
Bore its fang without being ineffective

34. I fell short of the length of my gratitude but my seas did not boil
And I did not find it long other than futile
