1. Time with you O Abul Ali
Brought no adversities to your abode

2. Afflictions were kept away from you
Hardships and sorrows were relieved

3. I shared with you severe trials
My heart almost melted from pain

4. Yet I did not complain, for how could I
When your virtues to me are well-known

5. But I confided in you my complaints
Of a brother's sorrows that weigh down my soul

6. How can I show patience when fate's judge
Has destined for me this overwhelming grief

7. Misfortunes have befallen a man
Far removed from faults or moral flaws

8. But defending God is sufficient
Though wars' flames are stirred up

9. Acts of kindness offer protection for the doubtful
And absent good deeds will return one day

10. The radiance of the sun may be obscured for a while
By darkness, but it will not cease from setting

11. Say to the just ruler of all affairs
May he be redeemed from tyranny and injustice

12. O Abu Ishaq, you absolve transgressions
By your complaints and purify sins

13. You will soon be granted relief
Healed of every harm that recurs

14. You did not falter but remained lofty
You were not sick but the hearts were diseased

15. You deserve relief for you are noble
Treating wounds gently when they bleed

16. You judge fairly when we seek from you
Customary law, always hitting the mark

17. Congratulations to the family of Hammad
Witnesses and inner thoughts are pure

18. If your hearts complain of an affliction
No failing in you will bring about ruin

19. If you are tested with exoneration
No shameful act have you ridden

20. No blame lies on the slain of God
In him protection of honor is found

21. I love you and thank you for choosing
Me while the rest of the world is flawed

22. My breeze from you is always a north wind
My rain when I ask for water, a south wind

23. In your presence no wretchedness is found
No liar tempted by your praise
