1. Tell the prince, may his happiness endure,
Your feast remains linked to other feasts.

2. A feast whose splendor the days compete over
And anticipate with sights and cavalries.

3. You rose in it like the rising of the full moon that coincided
With the rise of good fortune that came upon its appointed time.

4. In a procession that the world continued to beautify with
An imaginary army of flashes and thunder.

5. The pounding of drums and the gleam of swords lit it up
While the brightness of your face illuminated it, what illumination!

6. By God what a feast it was. In it the souls were tied
To a pillar that cannot be moved.

7. In its like the ignorant, after blindness,
Knew that the caliphate was pegged with tent pegs.

8. In it you terrified the enemies of the kingdom and they turned back
From it with restless intestines and livers.

9. So be joyful in it and in feasts you perpetuate
In the shade of a life, and aromatic wood kindling.

10. O most generous of all people, and not from exaggeration,
Nor is that far from my mind.

11. My soul is your ransom. Rather my soul and its family
Rather every soul and how expensive to redeem you, O Redeemer

12. Whoever bestows his praises on the blind
Is a compliant dedication to speculation.

13. I have not praised you except after many tongues
And I have not gained you except after pioneers.

14. The caravan of praise led their camels to you
Travelers of the night spending night after night.

15. For them you are a guide in front of them
And from your hope a guide, wherever you turn.

16. Over others they strain the ships’ necks
With arms strongly pulling and poles.

17. Ships heavily loaded though their capacity
From praise is lightened of provisions.

18. Trusters in rain whose guide did not fail
Except with extinction.

19. Each of your hands is a right, it has no left
Created for glories and assistance.

20. Hands that do not cease, time after time, from freeing
A poor man or from loosing the fettered.

21. If your generosity lasts, we will drain our talents
After the drought and announce readiness.

22. You give plentifully without promise, preceding it
And you do not punish except after warning.

23. You erect virtues established on the virtues
Of righteous fathers and ancestors.

24. O family of the most high rank
You have remained, despite enemies and enviers,

25. My neighbor sought refuge in an inaccessible mountain
And pastured alongside a valley.

26. Whoever corrupted the land, you
Replaced it with reform instead of corruption.

27. You are the sons of him of the two right hands whom
The swords raged against, then returned to their sheaths.

28. Distinguished with the mark of prosperity in hidden places
Born under stars, not unlucky ones.

29. You made the days delay for us many rulers,
Men of distinction, heroes, and nobles.

30. From a star of insight, and from a sea that has dawn
Upon the heedless, and from a surging torrent.

31. So whenever an affliction befell the people,
It found among you a watcher lying in ambush for it.

32. You have two diverse stations however long they harbored
The folds of gratitude and hatreds.

33. The people ransom you when you ransom yourselves
With the best of souls and bodies.

34. In every raging fit, curtailed by its monstrosity,
It is called the mother of calamities or nicknamed disaster.

35. Among you are many fiercely defending on that day
Who greet havoc with flames and guiding fires,

36. They cover the chests of sublime men, within their territory,
With a free chest protected from evils, impartial.

37. This is my praise and those are your virtues
With people’s eyes I have not denied witnessing.

38. The days were ennobled by you, so they recoiled
After armoring themselves with present praise.

39. Nothing turned people from the path of honor
Except your guidance towards its path, O guide.

40. So remain with the survival of your deeds, for from them
Pillars of glory remain above pillars.
