1. You have the auspicious bird and fortunate ascendant,
And longevity with no endpoint after it.

2. Observe while you are a man who looks with insight,
So there is no cavity but in it is deposited treasure.

3. Intelligence and oversight of all that is obscure,
His feet fall short before pardoning their effort.

4. Don’t you see that discipline has always been master,
And that compliance in every cultured one is a servant?

5. And completing the good deed of the generous man with his mobilization,
You have done good and the mobilization remains.

6. I am not pleased with you except what you are pleased with,
And you are not pleased except with what brings glory to the magnificent.

7. If you sought the matter at its first intention,
And did not delay another, the seeking would not be confused.

8. No purpose urged on without a definite purpose,
Of a man except the most similar to the intentional mistake is determination.

9. And I have many examples of that,
Which the poetic reciter recites in land and sea.

10. If you made a contract then abandoned it,
And no contract duplicated it - that is the contract.

11. The stream is no cure for turbidity without elevation,
Even if the sweetness and coldness help the water.

12. Nor is lightning an assurance of rain without thunder,
But when the lightning supports it, the thunder.

13. The eye is no eye when it loses its sister,
Nor the ear an ear when its sister’s absence makes it lose it.

14. The hand is nothing if not for its sister being strong,
Nor the foot unless it walks and runs with the foot.

15. Nothing needy is flimsy unless delirium supports it,
It flounders unless bewilderment and schemes support it.

16. So strengthen from yourself a document and duplicate it with its pair,
None has power except Allah the Singular and Unique.

17. Rise above apology without blemish,
To the honor of excuse - praise will be purely yours.

18. Increase upon the good deed, so you did not cease to be generous,
Until generosity falls in love with the vulgar person.

19. Furthermore, O twin reproof of our time,
My resolve and passion for you - the like of it is no resolve.

20. Listen to me, for long have I tired myself praising you both beyond those who recite poetry.
My two pillars, what is with me? I am deprived of your presence,

21. While your view is a view and your covenant a covenant.
Do I own the lightning bolts' descent from you both

22. While the vile disbelievers own life, soil, and lush greenery?
Under me my slipper hits the ground with all its might,

23. Under my mounts are the saddle and the swimming saddle pad.
No wonder that a gang enjoys favor over me -

24. If I praised them the praise would be mine and so the hatred.
So the valley is favored by the floods over the hill,

25. And it is grassed first before the valley is grassed.
When do I turn my face and heart away from you both

26. And spend my day aggrieved - so deprivation is rightly mine?
I witnessed - indeed you both made me miserable, yet

27. The promise to me was not misery but fortune.
I hope but what I hope is no guarantee from you,

28. I fear but what I fear from you is ready money.
It is nothing but the reproof from you striking me,

29. Is the like of it imprisonment? Is the like of it flogging?
I have no sin - indeed my innocence

30. And my excuse are what denial cannot conceal.
You deny me the world in its soft time,

31. When the earthquake has settled and the cradle has stilled.
The sheep and wolf share one pasture,

32. And the gazelle of the sand patch makes peace with the leopard.
Do I hope that you gather for me your approval -

33. A way, but that good fortune does not flow for me?
Do I hope that you come early to a seat of council -

34. An enjoyable arrival, but the fortunate son does not arrive like I do?
There my good fortunes all run to me,

35. So lively youth and prosperous times revive.
You both sheathed yourselves while favor and goodness are in you,

36. As the narcissus sheaths itself and the rose.
What favor and goodness you have embraced

37. Is but the merit of manners whose praises are recited.
And knowledge and patience that cannot be balanced -

38. Some of it by mischief, or contentment, or deception, or slumber.
I blamed you my blame, and it is no injurious blame,

39. For if it were injurious blame it would be deliberate.
It has the first bite, and its unfamiliarity benefits,

40. I have not ceased to benefit you both.
Your seeds - so set them right that you may harvest

41. Righteousness when the winds gather the harvest.
Beware tyranny in secret, for it

42. Is despicable, execrable - in the speech of the poetic reciter.
Your knowledge of guidance is what you have known,

43. And the trusted advisor inclines toward you.
By Allah, the worth of a world contended for

44. With the like of you is not justice for some of what appears.
I am but an anxious advisor,

45. Burning with love for you both until the grave is split for it.
I have not swayed from an opinion or solved a personal inclination,

46. Nor spoken until the unhewn boulder was said to me.
I came to you - my hopes and praise are upon you both -
