1. I saw the spoils of war unworthy of the strife,
When in it the keen lances were diverse.
١. رأيتُ جناة الحرب غير كُفاتها
إذا اختلفت فيها الرماح الشواجرُ
2. Even so is the tinder safe from sparks,
Unless the flames come to do their work.
٢. كذاك زناد النار عنها بنجوةٍ
ولكنما تَصْلى صلاها المَساعر
