1. They said to me, why do you blame all mankind
And revile people with ugly reviling?
١. قِيلَ لي لمْ ذَمَمْتَ كُلَّ البَرَايَا
وهجَوْتَ الأنَامَ هَجْواً قَبِيحا
2. I said, suppose I lied about them,
Show me who deserves praise!
٢. قلت هَبْ أَنَّني كذبْتُ عليهم
فأرونِي من يستحقُّ المديحا
