1. A knight of your choice, victor over two ranks of spears,
When he charges amidst the army, makes them self-sufficient.

2. His shrieking makes the cowardly flee from drums,
While his daring causes him to neglect his own safety

3. Amidst the melee.
He turns and takes flight in sudden panic,

4. Until you see him has lost his senses.
He tries throughout his life to cast off his cowardice,

5. But alas, he does so slowly.
