1. Listen, O Abu Ishaq, you are glorious
And truly faithful to the rights of glory

2. What will you say, if questioned strictly
While oppressors stand on the verge of prison

3. Why did your generosity sleep from rewarding
Eulogies that came to you with certainty

4. And you began to promise him every great thing
For a gossip that came with uncertainty

5. Patience and composure for a man
Of fair judgment are pillars of integrity

6. Does my praise remain in a stance of contention
And you see my lampoon lurking in ambush

7. The Almighty will not allow you
To obscure the evident and obscure the lucid

8. By God I swear, what was told to you
Is a lie, I see a rope without a baby

9. Would one like me provoke one like you with malice
As if confronting a lion with a knife

10. Consider the truth in all that was told you
Where is your tolerance, when you were supported by faith?

11. Overlook the slip as you excused its peer
And touch gentleness that you possess with subtlety

12. O master of enablement, give his alms
For pardon is the best alms of the enabled

13. And if a bastard provokes you, then forgive him
Until the denier departs, denied

14. His plot is the plot of the reproacher
You gain the reward of the forgiver, and you are no fool

15. Denigration guided you, so you summoned
The wiles of the noble, and it became like adornment

16. You put your patience to work with the fool and his ignorance
With a serene spirit, sincere in purpose

17. And that exposed the lie of your opponent, so he recoiled
While he is despicable and you are honorable

18. Had you taken revenge, you would have been one of his witnesses
And you would have supported the rubbish of his words with fat

19. I know you have a breath
That heals the sick, and the breath of the dragon

20. Why then do I shun the one that contains harm
And evade the one that cures me?

21. Shall I court the ministers in their dominions?
Then I would be the lamb of the falcons

22. None brought to your meadows for drink
Is like those brought for execution

23. Be strange to the noble in seclusion
Where the transmitters meet the kings of China

24. Among the strange things in virtues and heights
Is the patience of the dear with the assault of the destitute

25. And pardoning a soul you owned the punishment of
A sign of creation and formation

26. Or does it not please you to be likened to Him
Who brings bones to life, while you are not resentful?

27. But in this likeness, you are victorious
And to be rewarded for it, very faithful

28. So pardon what God knew of my innocence
That is testimony sufficient for me

29. I swore I will not be pleased with just your pardon
Until delighted from joy with a companion

30. And I swore I will not be pleased with one companion
Or even two, while you are no miser

31. And I swore I will not be pleased with all that
Unless it lasts - no end to its term

32. And if I swore, I was not deluded in swearing
Your oath guaranteed the righteousness of every oath

33. And if I was assured of what I assured, I did not risk
Except taking hold of a hand that is firm

34. The guarantee of my soul is only the goodness of your shelter
I need no other guarantor

35. It will be an outlet for me, no distress
And that is why I was in the place of the two eagles

36. My world is narrow since you were angry and gloomy
And death follows that, unless you give me life

37. With you is the greatest ambition for the distressed
In kindness, the brightest fortune, the clearest of foreheads

38. So bring upon me the shadows of your kindness, I am
In the dark spaces, not languid

39. Do not be harsh to a man who committed no
Crime, while you are more gentle than October

40. Let not the fraud of a fraudster corrupt your praise
And your praise is the spreading of roses and basil

41. Do not let a group out of suspicion
Make you sad, while you are the joy of every sad one

42. May God forsake at your side the abandoner of my argument
And help every supporter and aide

43. Oh, I wish I knew what my plotter would do
Be tough on him, bind his hands with humiliation

44. Will he spread of my hidden shortcomings in poetry
When for every poetry there is an aroused hidden?

45. Or does he hope I will not reward my meagerness
When praised with less than satisfies me?

46. So disregard what is destined to belittle you in sight
And you will see the solid speech to be fragile

47. Or did he not know that generosity in a young man
Is overpricing him then for the priceless?

48. The hopeful in you has failed, oppressing a hopeful
Even if he sought pardon, in ease and humiliation

49. The impossibility of his hopes has made him needless
When he was not on a path of righteousness, a convoy of ships

50. Whoever desires the intoxication of the sea without its paths
I have mortgaged him to incapacity, a thousand pledges

51. No testimony is denied the liar who cut off
Testimony at the hour of death

52. You have the insight before any insightful one
And you have the evidence without the evidential

53. Do not be fooled by the weak, for sometimes
The mighty oppressed, only to return in sorrow

54. And you surely see the poets in their stumbles
So treat them with appeasement that satisfies me

55. And you see their turbulences as agreeable company
To the nature of sincerity, its spring pure

56. The houri of virtues has fully possessed you, not
Poetry surrounded by one-eyed houri

57. Had I been one of your singers, I would love
For you to couple my pact in your odes

58. But I see myself, when my concerns surrounded you
You roughened your chest, however you dread

59. It is as if I hear you thanking and telling me
“The noble softens to the well-mannered”

60. I met Abraham inclining in his meadows
To wisdom, piety, and adornment

61. His adversaries diminished, so he diminished to the heights
And rested with wisdom like solid mountains

62. He pardoned my needs though I burdened him
With what no creature of clay bears

63. So listen, O Abu Ishaq, you are glorious
