After darkness it's become like gray hair

9. And time wears out the youth as it raises him
Until the night of burial turns back to him

10. Feeding him at all times as it eats him
And sipping his sap like a shepherd sips milk

11. It changes his state again and again from his youth
Seeping like water from a saturated book

12. While he is like a plucked flower it dried him
And returned like a plucked chicken with ruffled feathers

13. Marvel at the safety of a treacherous fate
That strips him leaf by leaf, and branch by branch

14. The lot of a man from the yield of fate that tries him
Is enough even if he's not ruined or shamed

15. I lament with my skin the days I don't deny
And my honor by God is without blemish or defect

16. O doe, whose bedding was in the shade
Of a fruitful tree of mine and branches

17. Come back to me, for a she-camel has roared
And my love for fun became like gathering firewood

18. Old age built me up and then destroyed me
Until I walked with the limp of curved wood

19. And returned my head to the color of its time

25. The life of a man from the yield of fate that tries him

26. In the peace of fate, its events suffice
And life is more ample than a great desert

27. I have fulfilled this in my poem to a coquette
Amusing herself with kohl, at times with dye

28. A doe-eyed damsel, shapely, flirtatious, agile
Weak, helpless, like the sunshine or the full moon

29. I mean the unveiled beauty, the veiled pulchritude
With the excellent beauty and hidden perfection

30. She came competing in a mantle that adorned her
Like water pouring in a vessel of seeds

31. So she flaunted the sweetness of coyness
With a breeze like the garden breeze with pools

32. Yearning for my past days, confused
By the life of comfort in luxurious abodes

33. O you with youth which circumstances have changed
And different kinds of sorrows have replaced

34. Wait, for that rift has returned and hopes
Of achieving wishes have come closer, nearer

35. Through the family of Wahb, their world
Became victorious, and sang after lamenting

36. The land became, with their reform,
A home of accord, and it had been a home of war

37. A people who achieved glory, nobility, and riches
Taking the place of white and spotted (horses)

38. They took over their place in every brave tribe
Giving and benefiting, rising in rank

39. Not detracting from the leader over the necks
Rather being the head while enviers are the tail

40. And who compares the head to the tail?
They're a bowl that contained a kingdom, and gave it out

41. So the kingdom became an undisputed kingdom
Bestowed upon the most deserving wearer of the crown

42. Even before, they paved the way for him
That great kinship is the greatest honor

43. He listened to them and entrusted them his trust
Above all people, without doubt or shame

44. His affairs in their hands always flowed smoothly
Until the eagle triumphed over the ruins

45. How much honey their care provided for him
You would know that reeds are few compared to them

46. With them, the known duty was made easy
And the sides of the mighty state were forbidden

47. How many firm, rational leaders of wisdom
In every great affair, other than the zealous fools

48. However much the ignorant criticize a matter of theirs
It remains among the wise without question or doubt

49. They safeguarded the religion, their day
Does not neglect it, nor their night sleep in vigilance

50. Protecting the kingdom and guarding its possession
From hostile enemies, of malice and war

51. Milking the spoils of war abundantly
With kindness and prosperity for the elite

52. Seeking only reward after the reward
Protecting the imam from sins or causes

53. Whoever collected money for the sultan without them
He wronged and disgraced, the vile and stinking

54. How much honey their care extracted for him
So his back rested without being stabbed

55. And after ease, its owner never complained of hardship with them
Nor turned from a path to a crime

56. And they don't flinch from favors reciprocating them
Rather they fulfill what is duty of glory

57. How much glory its seeker tied his mount's reins
And became generous so holders of reins rested

58. They don't cease to give from a perpetual kindness
More than any newcomer hopes to gain

59. As if it's God's blessing secured for them
In the eternal paradise from worry and fatigue

60. Sheer and pure, we never knew its source
The spring of grace, none can exhaust or diminish

61. May God reward you for us with what
The possessor of grace, height, and purity from flaws is rewarded

62. We are not surprised, though you surprise us
That gold is picked from the gold mine

63. But we're surprised by gentleness we cannot reward
And seek from you more, the greatest surprise

64. If an insincere person flees from sincere kindness
Unable to show thanks, we will not flee

65. But you're the man who gives kindness and sees
Leaving the account to you as the best attitude

66. Sufficing you to gain glory, our master
You did not entrust it nor worked to earn nobility

67. But acted like fathers whose great deeds
Were shining virtues, relieving distress

68. And none of your views, in the sight
Of a reasonable and educated man were unsound

69. If one is son of generous people but does no good
He is not chosen in the morning or evening

70. And every branch of a fruitful origin that dried up
Is not valued, the lowest of branches

71. For that reason many fruitless date palms are sheltered
Watered and cared for, while firewood is discarded

72. If not for the benefits hoped from their fruits
People would not favor apples over acorns

73. Cultivate your plants to reap thanks from every pouch
You gave something so attach it to its context for us

74. And investigate again the causes
Speak firmly to the young man among us and his master

75. With pleasing, forbearing speech that stills anger
Serious or joking, as you wish, rein them

76. Your noble nature, rein anger with shoes
Know you are hoped for and awaited

77. So intercede with the intercession of the hoped for and awaited
By God, the money of people you earned

78. O best of earners, from the best earnings
Preserve it, preserving without parallel

79. Except success, and save it from corruption
Let no hand you entrusted hope in you

80. Be deprived, nothing is like deprivation
If asked, we'd say poverty makes poor

81. But sorrow of war is greater than it
No neighbor you're protecting should worry

82. Rather your neighbor remains safe from worry
Make peace with fate in abundant grace

83. And return guided, with the best outcome
And may God cheer a soul you own

84. For it is estranged from its heights
Take it as a gift, I didn't wed it to you while single

85. O son of the minister, I married many singles
I used to wed the like of her before you

86. And which caller to you praising was not answered?
You never shortchanged a reward thus earned

87. Which introducer of truth to you was not rewarded?
Whoever fights for supremacy to possess it

88. With your valor was never preceded in victory
My prince, the works of his father

89. Became collars worn by non-Arabs and Arabs
However much you promise, it is noted and calculated

90. And whatever you make becomes a calculated thing
You give while your face is smiling, pretending with us

91. As if your hand did not favor nor gift
The visit of a resolute sinner, apologizing,

92. And the act of a sinner is sweeter than striking
O you, when asked, you inspire the request

93. If we're silent, you assume the need to ask
You granted bounty then brought it out for us

94. Without extended necks or effort
As if God's bounty secured for you

95. In eternal paradise from care and fatigue
Sheer, filtered, we never knew its source

96. A spring of grace that none can exhaust
May God reward you for us with what

97. The possessor of grace, height, and purity from flaws is rewarded
We are not surprised, though you surprise us

98. That selected gold comes from the gold mine
But we're surprised at kindness we cannot reward
