1. Do not think kindness is without meaning,
Except transmitting praise and approval.
١. لا تحسب المعروفَ لا معنى له
إلاَ نَوَاقِلَ حمدهِ وثَنَاهُ
2. For you see, kindness is fair to one who
Did not pretend it, though praises another.
٢. فلقد ترى المعروف يحسُن عند من
لم يصْطَنِعْه وحمدُه لسواهُ
