1. My punishment came early
Beware of the anguish of loss

2. I failed and lost what I hoped for
I reaped the loss of success and victory

3. You too experienced loss when
The fleeting world turned away

4. So be patient, you will be rewarded
For your loss as I was for my failure

5. No soul who hopes in you believes
What the Lord of the heavens revealed in the Quran

6. Would one who hopes in you be protected
Were it not for the accusation of fate and destiny?

7. I left myself in your hands trusting God
He suffices me against all of mankind

8. My feet were enough for me, I did not know you
In the barren and settled lands

9. My provision is not caused by you
The Provider, Creator of forms, provides

10. So take a path that leads its rider
To end up in ruin

11. Your blessings to me which I admit
Are that you have become a lesson for me

12. You have become an example by which I saw
My guidance though I was blind

13. Thank that vile hand that spared me
From you, O trivial danger

14. Rather that was my fortune and I do not consider it
Gratitude to you, O worst of foes

15. My blame is thanking you, for I saw you
Yearn for blame, so be patient for the worst awaits you

16. Your love of blame suits you, resembling
The snout of a pig wallowing in filth

17. You are the minister whom I served
Among the greatest of major sins

18. Go, may you be covered in dust, by a man
No, may you suffer infernal heat

19. The last of my ignorance of you was regretting
You, though punishment and warning have no use

20. I have no ignorance after it, how could I when
What I was granted of caution bagged me

21. I crave my hopes which were tied
To nothing with you in the first place

22. You ruined before drawing my hopes
Damned be the face and news

23. Had your bucket raised it, it would have
Returned to you full of filth

24. How can what stirred up turbidity clear?
Whose eye was dirtied but not stirred up

25. I showed at the start of your villainy
What I could at its end

26. If only purity showed first then your vileness
Like a coating and sugar

27. Or the beginning was turbid then followed
By purity, that would be excusable

28. Rather, you were like the thick black snake
Loathsome to the smeller, diseased and filthy

29. Like tar which always shows atop it
What it amassed of foulness

30. That clears when its top is removed
Though it remains turbid

31. You combined both flaws, the regret
Of failed efforts leading to failure

32. You were indebted with debasement that
Your gentle gaze led you to

33. What wisdom you have, ripe
With bitterest fruits from its trees

34. How can the harvest of one whose foods
Are stocks from the evilest trees be sweet?

35. Think, father of the girl, does a collector amass
Save for a marriageable male?

36. You usurped her family and denied them
Their rights for a barren cucumber

37. The wise man's goal to satiate
His daughter with wine is most evil

38. He gathers what he asks the protector for
Tomorrow if he buries him in dust

39. Discarding the right of one who takes refuge
Save death or lying excuses

40. O philosopher of sublime principles
As narrated by the scholars

41. Is it wisdom that your closed fist
Opens only to the key of excuses?

42. You withhold except for the barren when
He splits the imploring and pleading

43. You sacrifice and pray while searching for
A wanton like a spear from the exceptional

44. She entices him and stretches herself out
So he takes her openly and forcefully

45. You admire the stallion as he mounts
The young woman's hindparts with sorcery

46. By God, what happens between them
When their touching places meet?

47. You prefer that to the melody
Of singing, the charming of strings

48. As she ransoms him, the foolish father
Dissolute, though the meter is free

49. Did you amass for that or for a rabid one
You were nicknamed the father of lessons?

50. Nicknamed Father of Righteousness though his righteousness
Is his multiplying those who dwell in graves

51. Call not for his remaining, for his death
Is the best of good

52. Stop him is horror to one who ponders him
His face disfigures the birds

53. If he twists in his company
You see the malignancy of the month

54. If he takes up speech, the living die of fatigue
And you see the shame of defects

55. He whistles in travel, his whistling
Rouses the appeals of death in the deserted abode

56. Babbling like his one-eyed, clubfooted, deformed
Uncle, the family of deformities and cripples

57. He tires his companions and appoints them
A grievance so each turns away in dismay

58. Deliver the rest you gathered for him
If you care for him, O father of cows

59. If you gathered mountains you would ruin them
Wrongfully, with no justice or honor

60. If you stood your stands the judge would win them
Who sees the injustice of every minor

61. Eating them one time and deputizing
An agent another, with greatest wage

62. While your son grows old an orphan
Oh for the elder orphan

63. No man sees him and gives him justice
While injustice entices every despised one

64. The hopeful do not hope for the justice of Abu Bakr
Or Omar upon his like

65. So seek for the inheritance of the wretched from you tomorrow
A repository, if you influence or lose influence

66. Entrust him to the loyal in favors
That bind, not in coffers and assets

67. Entrust wealth for him not as a trustee
But like a cloak and lodging

68. The keepers will guard you in it if
It becomes for the strict administrators

69. Woe for the advice that came
From the breast of a noble man concerned for you

70. Entrust him the people of loyalty in goodness
Not chained in necklaces and bracelets
