A songstress holding converse and confide,

2. With raillery and mirth that blandly glide,
Methought, though day, two days were there;

3. And still she pours upon each listener’s ear
Grave moral saws that well beseem the wise,

4. And deeds esteemed of Allah; hearing her
Is better than orisons of night and fasts.
