1. A friend whose conversation I cannot bear,
Nor cares for the dignity of his companions,

2. I found rejection one day in a meeting with him,
Harshness another day because of his veil.

3. He torments me and I am patient every day,
So he takes revenge because I bore his torment.

4. And claims that I am a jester,
Though I jested not except to gain his favor.

5. If there is no manifest despair,
Nor success, then I avoid him.

6. What his hands have earned will come to him,
