1. O you of beautiful face, character, morals, wisdom, deeds and actions
Why do others gain your favor while I gain nothing but rebukes?

2. If you were to abandon your inclination and stop entertaining nonsense
I would not lose hope or stop wishing you well

3. I do not flatter or praise you falsely
Or build up your status with empty words

4. Join me to my livelihood and grant me dues
Sweeter than the flowing of pants

5. Without procrastination or delay
Expediting this with all haste

6. And be not like the group who made
Their honor ransom for the immoral

7. By the right of the One who stands in place
Of crown for the king and wreaths

8. No, but the place of arms whose polish
Is for the heroic youth

9. No, the place of defense and victory
Present in the hour of adversities

10. A supporter, advisor, never deviating
From truth or misleading

11. Our master, our full moon, our hope
The one, in word and deed

12. Father of Al-Hussein, through whom
The virtues of rule returned after change

13. May God fill what He granted him
With no diminishing or altering

14. Grant me sincerity from you and
Loyalty that rewards without delay

15. May you succeed with talents that pour
Like the shoreline of the Nile overflows

16. May God dress you, O Abu Umar
In a robe of brilliance and crown of reverence

17. O you whom when the critic consults
He points to wisdom and erudition

18. Take sufficient dues from your brother
To meet again later in detail

19. Balanced in meter, though leaning
Away from your balanced weights

20. In the words of a free man authorized
To you in kindness, giving all agency

21. Who said some of what you granted
Not praising you falsely or vaguely

22. And may you remain in health
And the shelter of bounty in attire
